Low US Tariffs Could Draw Global Manufacturers to India

News: India’s lower tariff exposure compared to other global markets may attract international manufacturers, driving up demand for industrial and warehousing infrastructure, according to logistics experts.
Anshul Singhal, MD of Welspun One, emphasized that to fully benefit, India must implement strategic policy reforms, enhance supply chain resilience, and adapt export strategies.
While the US tariff hikes—especially under the Trump administration—may disrupt export-driven sectors like electronics, textiles, and gems, India’s warehousing sector, largely supported by domestic consumption, is expected to stay resilient. Singhal also warned of potential trade slowdowns due to increased freight costs, customs delays, and compliance burdens. This may push exporters toward short-term warehousing and sea freight. Demand for integrated logistics and advisory services is also likely to rise.
