Goyal Stresses Need for Resilient Supply Chains

News: Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal urged the industry to build resilient and self-reliant supply chains to shield agriculture from global shocks, citing China’s export curbs on di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) that triggered shortages and higher prices.

Stressing the need for fertiliser, pesticide, and insecticide security, he said India cannot risk disruptions when a single country halts supplies.

Goyal assured that the government will hold fertiliser costs in check through subsidies to protect farmers. Highlighting growth potential, he projected agri exports could rise from ₹4 trillion to ₹20 trillion, if India improves packaging, shelf life, and value addition.

He also pointed to opportunities in boosting exports of coffee, spices, and other high-value crops.
