FASTag issues in India

News: Widespread technical problems with the FASTag toll collection system are severely disrupting India’s road freight industry, which is the foundation of the country’s economy.

The transportation of necessities is reportedly being severely hampered by the thousands of trucks that are apparently stuck at toll plazas around the nation.

Unprecedented trouble in road transportation is being caused by a failure in the system, disrupting supply chain.

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) have all received complaints about these FASTag faults from the All India Transporters Welfare Association (AITWA).

Whereby valid FASTags are being banned and replaced by arbitrary tags from unknown banks. Many truck drivers have complained about spending hours stuck at toll booths due to FASTag issues in India, where tags are blocked or not being recognized.

Due to the freight industry’s reliance on uninterrupted and seamless traffic along national highways, this has resulted in delays in the transit of goods. AITWA has reported that the problem has affected trucks carrying all kinds of cargo, from basic supplies like food and medications to industrial materials.

For perishable commodities, the situation is especially bad because delays at toll plazas can result in large financial losses for both transportation companies and suppliers.
