Thousands of Trucks Are Stranded Across Due to FASTag Issues in India

FASTag issues in India

News: Widespread technical problems with the FASTag toll collection system are severely disrupting India’s road freight industry, which is the foundation of the country’s economy.

The transportation of necessities is reportedly being severely hampered by the thousands of trucks that are apparently stuck at toll plazas around the nation.

Unprecedented trouble in road transportation is being caused by a failure in the system, disrupting supply chain.

The All India Transporters Welfare Association (AITWA) has raised concerns with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) regarding significant issues with the FASTag system. Transporters report that valid FASTags are being blocked and replaced with unauthorized tags from unknown banks, leading to extensive delays at toll plazas.

These disruptions have severely impacted the freight industry, causing delays in the delivery of essential goods, including food, medications, and industrial materials. The situation is particularly detrimental for perishable items, resulting in substantial financial losses for transport companies and suppliers.
