Sonowal Launches 8 Key Projects
News: Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated the Golden Jubilee Curtain Raiser for New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA), marking 50 years of service.
He launched eight major maritime projects, including a state-of-the-art cruise terminal, covered storage sheds, expanded truck terminals, a 150-bed multi-speciality hospital, and upgraded access infrastructure to enhance operational capacity, logistics efficiency, and sustainability.
Sonowal unveiled a commemorative stamp, coin, and NMPA Golden Jubilee Anthem, highlighting the port’s growth from a few thousand tonnes to 46.01 million tonnes handled last fiscal.
Emphasizing India’s Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047, he stressed sustainable, tech-driven port operations, eco-friendly initiatives, and alignment with the Blue Economy, with ongoing projects under Sagarmala aimed at boosting investment, employment, and Viksit Bharat goals.
