India and Japan Join to Strengthen: Minerals Supply Chains

India and Japan Join

News: India and Japan are strengthening cooperation on critical minerals supply chains through frameworks like the Mineral Security Partnership, IPEF, and Quad initiatives, the MEA said.

In August 2025, India’s Ministry of Mines and Japan’s METI signed a MoC on mineral resources, while Toyota Tsusho advanced a rare earth refining project in Andhra Pradesh to secure stable supply chains.

Both nations also promoted battery supply chain cooperation via a JETRO-led roundtable in India with over 70 participants.

The partnership, rooted in shared strategic and economic goals, includes dialogue on economic security and technology launched in 2024.

Anchored in the Indo-Pacific vision, the collaboration aims to safeguard critical interests. PM Modi discussed these issues at the 15th India-Japan Summit.
