Indian Industry Seeks FTAs and Sustainable Policies
News: At FICCI’s 14th Massmerize conference themed “Make in India: Powering the Future of FMCG, Retail and E-Commerce”, industry leaders urged the government to expand Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) for preferential market access and cost advantages against competitors like Bangladesh and Vietnam.
Mohanlal Sons CEO Mayank Mohan stressed the need for wider FTAs with the UK and US and extending Production Linked Incentives (PLI) to sustainable industries.
L’Oreal India MD Aseem Kaushik highlighted sustainability, citing refillable bottles, recyclable pouches, renewable energy-powered plants, and water neutrality goals.
Executives from Marico, ChrysCapital, and Piramal noted that strong domestic consumption and global supply chain shifts position India to emerge as a competitive global manufacturing hub.
