Tamil Nadu Set to Introduce Dedicated Warehousing Policy

News: Tamil Nadu is set to launch its first dedicated Warehousing Policy to strengthen logistics infrastructure, especially in the Delta region.

The policy will focus on four pillars: adopting national warehousing standards, establishing institutional mechanisms, streamlining regulations, and promoting commodity-based clusters. It aims to identify priority districts for phased warehousing development.

During a stakeholder session, TIDCO MD Sandeep Nanduri highlighted the policy’s role in addressing gaps amid rapid industrial growth.

The state is also advancing multimodal logistics parks in Chennai, Coimbatore, and Thoothukudi under a ₹63,000 crore Integrated Logistics Plan.

Despite strengths in manufacturing and port access, logistics challenges persist, including congestion and cold chain deficits. Rising warehousing demand underscores the need for targeted investments and reforms.
