Government Initiative to Enhance Air Cargo Infrastructure

News: The Union Budget 2025’s focus on upgrading air cargo infrastructure, especially for perishable goods, is set to boost Andhra Pradesh’s exports.
Exporters in North Andhra Pradesh have long sought advanced air cargo facilities at Visakhapatnam International Airport to reduce reliance on costly road transport to Hyderabad.
Andhra Pradesh, India’s largest seafood exporter and a leader in horticulture, faces logistical challenges due to inadequate air cargo facilities. The Andhra Pradesh Air Travellers Association (APATA) engaged Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who encouraged detailed project proposals. APATA urged Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to push for infrastructure upgrades at key state airports. Improved facilities will reduce costs, enhance export competitiveness, and drive economic growth in the state.
